I suspect many of you may be wondering what that loud WHACK! you heard was during Survivor: David vs. Goliath last night? Well, that was the sound a karma boomerang makes when it strikes its target with a satisfying bullseye.

With visions of sugar plums and big Survivor moves dancing in her head, Gabby Pascuzzi did elect to turn on her one true ally, her one true friend in the game: Christian Hubicki. Not only did Gabby stab him in the back but she insisted that all of Christian’s goodwill throughout the game towards her wasn’t genuine.

Ouch, that’s gotta hurt.

The one of many problems with Gabby’s move is that Davie Rickenbacker went and spilled the beans to Christian before Tribal Council. Christian played his Hidden Immunity Idol and the others were clever enough to spring their trap on Gabby sending her packing.

Besides being obsessed with making a “big move” to alleviate the insecurities she had about her own game, Gabby made the mistake of striking far too soon and now the Goliaths have the numbers advantage again. Since Christian was clearly public enemy number one, it would have benefited Gabby greatly for Christian to stick around for the time being as a supporter and a target larger than herself.

Targeting Christian was the right move but not at the right time and Gabby got burned for it.

What will the Goliaths do now that they have the numbers back? Will they get back together? It might be especially tempting if Nick Wilson sides with them after all the nonsense that has happened. If so, Davie and Christian could be in a whole lot of trouble and to think that if the Davids had just waited to pull the trigger on their own things might have turned out very differently. What will the Goliaths do? Stay tuned.

Week 11: Game Fail – Gabby Pascuzzi

Pulling the trigger on Christian wasn’t the wrong move. Gabby was right, eventually he had to go but executing that move on Day 32 was a mistake and she paid for it with her Survivor game.

Strategic Gameplay

To be fair, Gabby deserves more credit than she has received. She and Christian worked tightly together discussing each move they made. Gabby’s downfall is she didn’t see the forest for the trees and her decisions seemed to be made with her heart and not her head. Taking out Carl Boudreaux and then Christian was giving the numbers back to the Goliaths. It was bad timing all around. If she had just thought things through.

Social Gameplay

The booted Survivors who spent time with Gabby wanted to go to the end with her so she must have had a positive effect on people, not just Christian.

Entertainment Value

For many fans, Gabby and Christian were their favourites this season and who could blame them? As the awkward underdogs, theirs was a compelling journey. It isn’t the ending many would have wanted but when human relationships exist in an environment promising fame and fortune as a reward, Survivor brings out the best and worst in people every season.
