The Best of Will Forte
Forte was an SNL cast member from 2002 to 2010. In those years he made his mark, and a name for himself, as an off-the-wall, surreal gross-out comedian. He didn’t otherwise get a lot of notoriety, as his sketches were often cut for time, or pushed to the very last slot of the evening. But, that’s where his zaniness worked best.
He’s since gone on to create and star in two of his very TV series (among other things), one of which is MacGruber, based on the very sketch he created for SNL.
To get you ready for Saturday – so you know what to expect – here’s five of the weirdest, best things Will Forte did while working on Saturday Night Live.

5. MacGruber
An unabashed MacGyver rip-off, MacGruber (Forte) is a dunce, hot-shot agent who always finds himself in a room with a timebomb. But to his partners’ chagrin, he seems to always prioritize banal conversation over saving their lives. The 2010 film and recent television series (both under the same name) expand on this, fleshing out MacGruber as a pedantic, childish nincompoop who somehow always fails into success.

4. The Falconer
Will Forte wasn’t really the star of the Falconer, he was more the comic foil. The real star was Donald the falcon, who would go and party it up during the incredibly important quests that Forte’s Falconer would send him on. Terrible and crude puppetry is the name of this game.

3. Spelling Bee
If something isn’t funny, you can keep doing it until it is funny. Then, you can keep doing it until it’s not funny anymore. That’s when you don’t stop until it’s funny again. Forte’s attempt at spelling business lasts longer than one minute… how long did it take until you thought it was funny?
Featuring special guests Tenacious D for some reason.

2. That weird Thanksgiving song he did with Kristen Wiig and Steve Martin
This was mostly a Kirsten Wiig thing that she did when she hosted in November 2016. But she was appearing on Last Man On Earth around that time, and Will Forte (and Steve Martin) happened to be around. They chose to spend their Saturday night singing a factually erroneous song about the history of Thanksgiving with her. Good song though.

1. Potato Chip
Will Forte and Jason Sudeikis play off each other well, and this sketch goes to the absurd and disgusting extremes of that relationship. This sketch apparently came about because the both of them wanted to use Sudeikis’ weird “vomit on command” skill on air.
So get ready for Will Forte this Saturday on an all-new Saturday Night Live at 11.30 et/8.30 pt on Global!
Saturday Night Live can be streamed live and On Demand on the new Global TV App and on STACKTV. Global is also available through all major TV service providers.
