Survivor 45 Scoop – Week 9 Recap: Winners, Losers, Top Moments
John Powell – GlobalTV.com
Well, the Survivor producers certainly get an ‘A’ for effort. Knowing that the original Reba alliance (Austin, Dee, Drew and Julie) along with outsiders Emily and now Jake have the numbers they tried to throw a wrench in the Pagonging works with another challenge that divided the tribe into teams. This time the added catch was the first trio out could possibly lose their vote at tribal council.
Austin won his vote back and Katurah lost hers meaning the new Reba still control tribal council and the numbers game. It was a clean sweep against Kendra with only her voting for Jake.
Besides the producers transparently trying to trip up the core or dominant alliance was that the ‘Sword of Damocles’ showed how deep and how strong Dee’s game is. She not only convinced everyone to target Kendra once she heard she was on her hit list but alliance members were ready to hand her immunity, advantages to protect her. She truly is the Reba Queen Bee with her drones remaining faithful and dedicated to her.
Bruce’s Survivor journey continues to evolve in surprising ways with him have some profound moments of self-reflection, pettiness and pride, redemption by winning immunity for the second time in a row on ‘Sword of Damocles’. Without immunity, whether winning it or the one he has in his bag, Bruce’s time in the game would be over. The trouble is that every time Bruce moves off or down the hit list someone else moves up. If Bruce manages to stave off the boot once again next episode that puts Katurah, Jake or Emily in the firing line with Katurah probably being the choice that everyone in the alliance can easily live with over the other options. With only a few episodes left until the finale it will be curious to see whether the new Reba plays it safe or will cracks emerge? Stay tuned, folks.

Kendra McQuarrie
Kendra didn’t appear to have a very good read on the tribal politics or the people she was playing with. It is why she was so surprised at so many tribal council votes.
Strategic Gameplay
While she might not be the one setting up the pins to fall Kendra was shifting and moving throughout her time on the island. She was always trying to shore up her support as best she could.
Rating: 3 / 5
Social Gameplay
Kendra made some good friends on the island but those friends kept getting voted out and her bond were not solid enough to benefit her game.
Rating: 2 / 5
Entertainment Value
Kendra was that wild card player who brings a little bit of chaos to every season. When they leave some of that energy and spark leaves with them.

Emily has begun to push back against Drew and Austin. She also publicly tried to sway them against Dee.
Bruce is still on the outside and hasn’t seemed to make any headway to better his position in the game.
Kendra couldn’t read the room.
Drew was the lead on getting Kendra out, convincing the others to follow what he believes is his plan once again.
Austin made some great moves in lying about his vote and supporting his alliance by giving his idol to Julie. His stock has moved up.
Dee’s strongest showing yet in an episode that showcased her reign as Reba’s queen.
