This weekend on Saturday Night Live, Matt Damon returns for the second time this season to host the mid-season finale!

You all know Matt Damon from being the guy to win an Oscar in his mid twenties, to the guy who won a fist fight with a pen, to the guy who played Brett Kavanaugh earlier this season.

Well, as previously mentioned, he’s returning to host this time! He’s hosted only once before, hot off of promoting the very first Jason Bourne movie, Bourne Identity.

So with him hosting the mid-season finale, it’s a good time to look back at the season so far – and it’s been a blast! From cameos, to rants, to just darn good sketches, season 44 is proving to be a season to remember. So here are the five best moments from season 44 so far:

5. Kanye Dressed Up As A Bottle For Some Reason

It’s not so much a “good” moment as it is something to talk about. Kanye West always has shenanigans up his sleeve, and this one was more benign than the fascinatingly obtuse rant that went viral from later in the same episode.

4. Weekend Update With Colin Jost and Michael Che

Okay, this isn’t really a “best moment”, but it’s worth pointing out that these guys are killing it this season. They’re keeping up with the likes of Stephen Colbert with their cutting political comedy and not pulling any punches – especially when it comes to sticking it to Donald Trump.

3. Claire Foy Reprised Her Role As Queen Elizabeth II

When Claire Foy hosted, she very briefly appeared as Queen Elizabeth II, her role in the widely popular Netflix series The Crown. While it was only for a few seconds, it hit the target and took a jab at the streaming giant.

 

2. The mini The Office reunion during Steve Carell’s monologue

There’s been some speculation about NBC reviving The Office. While some cast members have publicly been for it, Steve Carell has generally been against it and no one is saying if it’s even going to happen or not. So, until that happens, we at least got the mini-reunion during Carell’s monologue when Ellie Kemper, Jenna Fischer and Ed Helms  interrupted him to ask whether or not the reboot would happen.

Again, there was no official answer.

1. Matt Damon’s Cameo as Brett Kavanaugh

In 2008, during the Presidential elections, Tina Fey did one of Sarah Palin’s speeches verbatim as an SNL sketch. That opened a door for future political satire sketches. Matt Damon’s appearance of Brett Kavanaugh wasn’t verbatim (though parts actually were), but it pretty well could have been – the gags in that sketch were pretty much things that Kavanaugh said himself during his Senate hearing in September.

There have been many other delightful and hilarious moments in the eight episodes so far, and many more to come as well. So tune in this weekend for the Matt Damon-hosted mid-season finale, with musical guests Miley Cyrus and Mark Ronson!
