After a short break, Saturday Night Live returns live this Saturday night (duh) with host and musical guest Chance the Rapper!

This will be Chance’s second time doing the hosting gig. Last time around was almost two years ago, when he hosted the (American) Thanksgiving episode.

The year was 2017. The political world was in turmoil, with Donald Trump not having been in office even a year and already mucking things up. Liberals were longing for the old days, when Barack Obama was still in charge. So Chance and couple of the guys from SNL (that’s Keenan Thompson and Chris Redd) came up with this R&B song to woo back Barack.

If you think about it, though, the sentiment of this song is just as relevant today. As Donny T and his band of right-wing misfits continue to take dumps all over the Constitution, the other side is scrambling to find someone who would make a decent President and has a good chance of beating DJT in the polls. And that’s where “Come Back Barack” comes in, because, well, he checks both those boxes. And no Democrat currently fills out both roles all that nicely. So maybe Come Back Barack pt. 2 this weekend?

But, ironically, one would have to take their own dump over the Constitution for him to run again.

He’s actually appeared as Lazlo Holmes a few times since, just as clueless as ever, interviewing hockey players for the NHL. So, probably he’ll back back again on Saturday.
There’s a lot to look forward to this weekend, with so much happening politically and Chance the Rapper hosting (the dude did an incredible job last time, especially given that he’d never really acted before).

Oh, and Halloween is around the corner. Of all the Halloween-themed sketches SNL is going to present this weekend, please please please let one of them feature David S. Pumpkins. We miss both Tom Hanks and Bobby Moynihan.
