This weekend Scarlett Johansson hosted a very, very, very Christmassy Saturday Night Live!

For her sixth time hosting SNL, Scarlett Johansson wanted to make the evening special. And since everyone’s already geared up for Christmas, why not start there? The stage at 30 Rockefeller Center was dolled up for the holidays, and Johansson was well ready to wish season’s greetings to her fans. That is, until Pete Davidson happened.

Yeah, that’s to be expected; give Pete Davidson any piece of expensive equipment and he’ll figure out a way to ruin Christmas. What’s even funnier is that there was a lot of alluding to Davidson not being on the show this week, and aside from the monologue, he wasn’t. He’s been on and off all season, but now he’s doing half days?

Saturday Night Lives Christmas episodes end up being classics – and this one goes right up there on the shelf with them! Only a couple non-Christmas sketches got through. The rest were pure holidays!

So with an episode that’s 80% Christmas, the remainder of course ended up being 15% Trump talk (and 5% miscellaneous). Weekend Update went hard with a good chunk of it dedicated to Trump’s looming impeachment processes.

The whole impeachment thing has been going on for quite a while now, but these guys are great at keeping it fresh. Nobody insult comics like Michael Che insult comics.

So, while this may have been this year’s SNL Christmas episode, don’t get upset – there’s still one more before Christmas! There’s a new Saturday Night Live next weekend, and it’s being hosted by Eddie Murphy. Finally. Finally in the sense that he’s been continually bumped down the line all season, from being slated to host the third episode in until now. But also finally because he’s finally hosting the show for the first time! Eddie Murphy single-handedly saved Saturday Night Live from cancellation in the 1980s after Lorne Michaels left the show for a few years. And he hasn’t returned, save for a short speech during the 45th anniversary episode.

It’ll be good, and it will definitely hold you over until Saturday Night Live returns again next decade!

Catch a brand new episode of Saturday Night Live next week December 21, featuring host Eddie Murphy, at 11.30 et/8.30 pt on Global! And watch the latest episodes online here on GlobalTV.com/Saturday-Night-Live!
