Phoebe Waller-Bridge to Host SNL After Emmy Hat-Trick
Phoebe Waller-Bridge to Host SNL After Emmy Hat-Trick
Look at her; she can barely hold all those Emmys!
This weekend, Phoebe Waller-Bridge will host Saturday Night Live for her first time ever, with Taylor Swift as musical guest for her… 47th time ever?
A woman of many talents, Phoebe Waller-Bridge is coming to Saturday Night Live straight from writing the next James Bond movie, doing voice work for Star Wars, running the hit British series Killing Eye and starring in the Emmy-winning series Fleabag. And that’s just what she’s done recently.
That’s right, Phoebe Waller-Bridge cleaned up at the 2019 Emmy awards, where she won Outstanding Lead Actress and Outstanding Writing for Fleabag, and Fleabag itself (her creation, by the way) won Outstanding Comedy Series. Phoebe Waller-Bridge isn’t going places. She’s already there.
And you can already tell that because this weekend she’s hosting Saturday Night Live! What a magical night it will be to have such a talent on stage! How many of the current cast can say they’ve won three Emmys? Kate McKinnon only has two – phhhfft! – and Alec Baldwin technically isn’t a cast member, so his three don’t count either.
After last week’s smashing freaking amazing season opener with Woody Harrelson and Billie Eilish, this week’s episode could be half as good and still be a not-miss. With the newest Trump scandal yet among his biggest – it’s not every decade that a president undergoes the process for impeachment (it’s every other decade FYI) – there’s a lot of new political material for the gang at 30 Rockefeller to work with. And with most of last season’s stellar cast having returned, plus some new favs (did you hear the audience go nuts when Bowen Yang came on screen?), it’s looking good for Saturday Night Live‘s 45th year.
Phoebe Waller-Bridge will be supported by Taylor Swift, who will be performing as musical guest. Swift recently released her seventh studio album, Lover, will be starring in the… “interesting” theatrical take on the stage musical Cats and has announced her plans to re-record her first six studio albums this year. It’s a good time to be a Taylor Swift fan.
Oh, and, obviously, a Saturday Night Live fan.
