James McAvoy will be the third Scotsman  host Saturday Night Live this Saturday, January 26!

McAvoy is coming at Saturday Night Live hard – a big time movie star and well respected actor of both stage and screen, McAvoy is an actor’s actor. His film credits include Atonement, X-Men: First Class, Split and its sequel Glass, and the upcoming It: Chapter Two – among many more, so you’ve probably seen him in something. And if not, get your first taste of McAvoy this Saturday!

McAvoy recently appeared on The Late Show with Stephen Colbert where an argument broke out about whether or not an image of McAvoy’s shirtless physique was computer generated or legit McAvoy. Who is to say, really, what was truly him during filming of Glass – that was a while ago and according to McAvoy, he’s reverted back to his normal build now, anyways. Sounds suspect, but only McAvoy knows… and the dozens of people who filmed him shirtless on the set of Glass.

McAvoy is the most recent in a short line of Scots to host Saturday Night Live – Alan Cumming in 2000, Gerard Butler in 2009 and now McAvoy, in 2019. At this rate, expect to see Ewan McGreggor host in 2030.

Backing up McAvoy as musical guest will be Meek Mills.

If you missed it, the Rachel Brosnahan-hosted episode was one to, well, not miss. It looks like 2019 will be a great year for SNL: a couple high calibre hosts already, Pete Davidson seems to be getting healthier, and a lot of Trump stuff to mock due to the ongoing government shutdown and so much more. That, along with it being 2019 – meaning the Presidential Primaries are ramping up – means SNL will have more content than they know what to do with. And that’s a good thing, because the cream will rise to the top of all the heavy competition, filtering out those watery, milky sketches that nobody wants anyway. The pressure is on!

So keep a close eye on Saturday Night Live this season – you won’t want to be the only one missing out!
