Anya Taylor-Joy made waves with her first feature film credit. The Witch (often stylized as The VVitch) stars Taylor-Joy, and was an instant classic and a rousing success. Since, Taylor-Joy has enjoyed high profile supporting and lead roles, appearing in Peaky BlindersThoroughbreds, and Emma. And last year she blew audiences away and won awards as the star of The Queen’s Gambit.

Now, she has the honour of hosting Saturday Night Live! Taylor-Joy is a true master of her craft. And Saturday Night Live is basically the epitome of televised sketch comedy. It’s a perfect match!

In Alec Baldwin’s final appearance as Donald Trump to date, he gave a touching rendition of The Village People’s “Macho Man”. It was spooky, and poignant at the same time.

3. The Muppets’ Return to SNL

This was just last week, but it was also the best. It had been a while since the Muppets have appeared, and watching Keegan-Michael Key beat the stuffing out of Stattler (or is it Waldorf?) is something nobody should miss.

2. The Aunt Jemima/Uncle Ben sketch

This sketch aired when Dave Chapelle hosted. It included Aunt Jemima and Uncle Ben being fired as mascots (inspired from the companies recently deciding to remove them from packaging). The sketch was an instant classic and should be remembered for years to come.

1. Dan Levy Hosting (and Eugene Levy in a box)

Canadian treasure Dan Levy got to host SNLThis was a significant moment for Canadian television, as our series don’t usually pick up speed south of the border. But Schitt’s Creek did, and with Levy hosting SNL, that can only mean good things for Canadian television internationally!

Oh, and Eugene Levy in a box is just a riot.

What a wild season it’s been – and next year is 47! Will Saturday Night Live make it to fifty seasons?
