Survivor: Ghost Island Scoop – Week 3 Recap: Winners, Losers, Top Moments
John Powell – GobalTV.com
Sorry, James Clement. Your curse lives on. Any Survivor fan worth their salt knows the sad, sad tale of James Clement. One of the physically strongest, most charismatic Survivor players ever, James was convinced not to use his two immunity idols and was blindsided out of the game during Survivor: China.
CATCH UP NOW: Survivor Season 36: Ghost Island, Episode 3: “Trust Your Gut”
On Survivor: Ghost Island, Michael Yerger found one of James’ idols and there was hope for the outnumbered original Malolo alliance; that is if they could guess correctly. Although he made a clever play claiming the idol had double the power, when forced to protect one person as the idol was designed to, Michael chose incorrectly. The original Naviti Tribe didn’t vote collectively for Stephanie Johnson, they picked Brendan Shapiro and he went home.
The real unsung hero of the original Naviti Tribe though was Kellyn Bechtold who made a critical move for herself and the alliance by not gambling her Tribal Council vote on Ghost Island. If she had done so and failed, Tribal Council could have turned out very differently for the original Naviti Tribe as the vote would have been tied.

Week 3: Game Fail – Brendan Shapiro
Just like Morgan Ricke last week, Brendan didn’t make any errors or big mistakes. He was a victim of circumstance and luck wasn’t on his side.
Brendan was doing well until the tribes were swapped. Brendan and the original Malolos just didn’t have the numbers on the new Malolo Tribe.

Strategic Gameplay
Brendan was portrayed as the unofficial leader of the original Malolo Tribe and as such was instrumental in guiding the group, especially at Tribal Council where they lost two members in a row.
Rating: 3 / 5
Social Gameplay
Brendan was a likeable guy. Nobody seems to have a negative word to say about him which is probably why he rose to such prominence at Malolo.
Rating: 3 / 5
Entertainment Value
Brendan came off the amiable everyman, sort of a Tom Westman type. A real salt of the earth guy who lives for his family and as such it would have been satisfying to cheer him on.
Rating: 3 / 5
Final Castaway Rating: 6 / 15
Week 3: Powell’s Picks
Who played it cool and who proved themselves to be a fool? Every week John Powell makes his picks for the worst and best players of the week.
Bronze Amateur: The New Naviti Tribe
They are lucky to have won the Immunity Challenge. Their total lack of teamwork was abominable.
Silver Amateur: Chris Noble
The same old Chris except he is now bossing around people in the other alliance, the alliance he hopes will help him kick Domenick Abbate.
Gold Amateur: Bradley Kleihege
When he was challenged at Tribal Council and designated as the ringleader his reaction was very, very poor. One suspects his own allies have lost a lot of faith in him, if they had any to begin with.
Bronze MVP: Kellyn Bechtold
Made a smart decision on Ghost Island. She could be a dark horse this season.
Silver MVP: Michael Yerger
Sure, his move didn’t pay off. Still, Michael really laid it all on the line at Tribal Council and you have to admire that.
Gold MVP: Laurel Johnson
Her challenge performance was stellar and she has also stepped up her strategic game.
