Survivor: David vs. Goliath Scoop – Week 4 Recap: Winners, Losers, Top Moments
John Powell – GlobalTV.com
I am not sure what they have done in this life or perhaps a previous life but the Survivor gods have cursed the Davids. Pat Cusack suffers an injury and he has to leave the game. They lose the next Immunity Challenge and Jessica Peet.
Tonight on Time to Bring About the Charmpocalypse, Bi Nguyen leaves due to her injury and the worst slap in the face comes when the tribes are shuffled. It is of no great surprise to anyone that the Davids pull the shortest straw. They are all outnumbered on the three newly created tribes.
The new tribes are:
The Vuku Tribe: Natalia Azoqa, Kara Kay, Alec Merlino, Elizabeth Olson and Davie Rickenbacker.
The Jabeni Tribe: Natalie Cole, Angelina Keeley, Lyrsa Torres, Mike White and Nick Wilson.
The Tiva Tribe: John Hennigan, Christian Hubicki, Gabby Pascuzzi, Alison Raybould and Dan Rengering.
The only bit of luck in their favour is that there was an upheaval at the new Vuku Tribe. Unable to trust Natalia, Alec pulled in Elizabeth and Davie to vote her off. The tribe also gained Carl, who did not pull a tribe during the swap. At least at Vuku the Davids now outnumber the Goliaths.
Alec’s ill-advised move might have major implications further in the game. Not only do the Vuku Davids have all the power but the original Goliaths may not be pleased with Alec’s decision, especially since he kept Kara in the dark about it. From whichever way you examine this decision it is very likely to do more harm than good not only to Alec’s game but perhaps to the Goliaths as well. Stay tuned.

Week 4: Game Fail – Bi Nguyen, Natalia Azoqa
Having covered pro-wrestling for the last few eons, I can confirm that a torn ACL can be career threatening. I don’t blame Bi for quitting. Her body is her livelihood.
Natalia needed to turn it down like 15 notches. She was too paranoid and too contentious for a game that requires equal amounts of naked aggression and subtle craftiness to get to the end. Unless she changed her gameplay she most likely would’ve been targeted later on by her own allies.
Strategic Gameplay
At the David Tribe Bi did not fade into the background as many do at the start of the game. She was playing hard, pushing for Lyrsa to go home.
We didn’t see much of Natalia’s gameplay simply because the Goliaths were doing well, however, she was an undeniable force there. She also helped find an idol with Dan and Kara.
Bi Rating: 2 / 5
Natalia Rating: 2 / 5
Social Gameplay
Bi had proven herself to be a strong competitor, someone the Davids desperately needed. Although the Jessica vote didn’t go her way she did have four people on her side who voted for Lyrsa to leave so there was some room for her to maneuver had she stayed in the game.
Natalia’s social game and the circumstances at Vuku are what brought about her demise. Her use of intimidation against Davie was viewed as out of order by her own allies. Her continued mistrust of those allies also caused people to question keeping her around.
Bi Rating: 2.5 / 5
Natalia Rating: 2 / 5
Entertainment Value
Bi’s departure was a big blow to the series for me. She was someone I could see as a challenge beast who also might be able to play a shrewd social, strategic game. She had so much potential on so many fronts. Her loss is devastating.
The most we saw of Natalia was on tonight’s episode so she is still an unknown quantity to me. Really intense players like her tend to flame out sooner or later so that could have been fun to see.
Bi Rating: 3 / 5
Natalia Rating: 2 / 5
Bi: Final Castaway Rating: 7.5 / 15
Natalia : Final Castaway Rating: 6 / 15
Week 4: Powell’s Picks
Who played it cool and who proved themselves to be a fool? Every week John Powell makes his picks for the worst and best players of the week.
Bronze Amateur: Alec Merlino
Somehow I think his decision to vote turn on the Goliaths will come back to haunt him.
Silver Amateur: Natalie Cole
New tribe. Same old mistakes.
Gold Amateur: Natalia Azoqa
She should have pulled back, made sure Alec and Kara were comfortable.
Bronze MVP: Angelina Keeley
With each episode she looks stronger and stronger. She could very well be one of the finalists this year.
Silver MVP: Carl Boudreaux
He not only found an advantage but he is also coming back into the game on the right side of the numbers.
Gold MVP: Davie Rickenbacker and Nick Wilson
They were both at a disadvantage during the swap so they fought even harder to secure their places in the game.
