Survivor: David vs. Goliath Scoop – Week 3 Recap: Winners, Losers, Top Moments

You are on an island far away from home with 20 strangers, chaotic weather and a host who plays devious mind games with you at Tribal Council. You are disconnected from your support system. There are no familiar faces. No friends. No family.
Living and playing Survivor: David vs. Goliath in that kind of environment it is easy to let the pressure get to you, to let anxiety and paranoia take control and smother your common sense and good judgment. Even the strongest of minds have been shattered on Survivor.
Jeremy Crawford not only let his feelings of mistrust get the better of him but he let everyone on his tribe know that he had. That is often a lethal Survivor mistake, especially when it is committed early on in the game. Constantly questioning everyone’s actions and motives, becoming too intense with people when you have only known them for nine days or less is a recipe for disaster.
Besides Jeremy becoming too suspicious, imploding his own game, it was also shocking to see on ‘I Am Goliath Strong’ that next week the tribes are getting swapped already which also means the theme – Davids Versus Goliaths – is effectively being given the hook as well. The decision is kinda baffling. It is true that the Davids sure have been slow getting out of the gate and the tribes are lopsided to some extent. It is just at only three episodes in and all the interesting relationships that have been developed the call to abolish the existing theme is premature.
Perhaps the producers have no faith in the Davids being about to maintain their comeback? Maybe they predict Pagongings on both tribes making the season very predictable? Did Bi Nguyen’s injury play a part in the decision?
For whatever reason, the move will probably extinguish much of the chemistry we have seen so far like Christian Hubicki and Nick Wilson, John Hennigan and Natalie Cole and others. Where will everybody land and who will get the short end of the stick? Stay tuned.

Week 1: Game Fail – Jeremy Crawford
It is okay to become apprehensive, confused and fearful on Survivor. They are common emotions everyone feels at one time or another during the game. When those moments are upon you though, you should remember the wise words of the great Sun Tzu: “Appear weak when you are strong and strong when you are weak.” In other words, don’t let everyone else know that you are riddled by doubt, indecision and worst of all, suspicion. Jeremy should have heeded those shrewd words.
Strategic Gameplay
We haven’t seen too much of the Goliath’s Tribe and that’s because they won the first two Immunity Challenges. Jeremy’s moves, searching through Dan Rengering’s things for the Idol, giving Natalie game advice when he had cut ties with her and not creating a wider alliance doomed him early on.

Social Gameplay
He didn’t have his finger on the pulse of the tribal politics and therefore didn’t know his name was on the chopping block. He was getting too personal, too soon as he did when he was so blunt with Natalie. He held a meeting to accuse everyone of scheming. It was misstep after misstep after misstep.

Entertainment Value
Jeremy was a wonderful mess of a player. Whether he would have been able to correct the course of his meandering game would have been fun to see.

Has she come to her senses and softened her approach? Time will tell.
Silver Amateur: Gabby Pascuzzi
She has positioned herself as a major target due to her manipulations. Will the swap save her?
Gold Amateur: Jeremy Crawford
He talked a lot about Natalie’s lack of self-awareness yet that was his biggest problem on the island.
Bronze MVP: Nick Wilson
Not on the chopping block any longer, Nick is aware that he must keep Christian on a short leash if they are to be a successful alliance.
Silver MVP: Angelina Keeley
She has risen to be a strong player who has a lot of influence at her tribe. Will she lose all of that next episode?
Gold MVP: Natalie Cole
Natalie must have done a lot of last minute wheeling and dealing as she is still in the game after being labeled as everyone’s favourite target. Working those votes obviously paid off for her.
