Sometimes fate does have a sense of humour.

Last week J.T. screwed up so, so badly at Tribal Council that he got his best friend and ally in the game voted off Survivor: Game Changers. Bye, Malcolm.

This week, fate gave J.T. a firm slap on the head.

At the Nuku Tribe, the two castaways who have been on the outs since the tribal switcheroo are J.T. and Aubry. The only member of the original Nuku Tribe, J.T. was incredibly outnumbered when the tribes switched up. Aubry remained as the lowest person on the former Mana Tribe’s totem pole.

J.T.’s blunder last week only painted a bigger target on his back. Getting some measure of revenge on him, Sandra tricked him into thinking that Michaela had eaten all the tribe’s sugar and that they were all furious with her. Michaela’s mood and attitude has been getting on some people’s nerves at camp but it was Sandra herself who had gobbled up the sugar.

Two targets, one camp. At least Aubry breathed a sigh of relief.

Game Fail: James “J.T.” Thomas Jr.

Where do we start? J.T. may have pulled off a brilliant win taking home the title of sole-survivor during Tocantins but during Heroes vs. Villains and now Game Changers he has sadly made some of the biggest blunders in Survivor history. You would think that giving away immunity to Russell Hantz, one of the game’s most nefarious players, was bad enough but this season’s mistake may have topped even that, maybe.

It is quite apparent that J.T.’s Survivor forte is physical challenges and not strategic endeavours.

Strategic Gameplay

We didn’t see J.T. play many mind games this season. He was superb as always at the challenges often giving his tribe the lead or the win.

However, when he did exercise his grey cells, things went sideways in the worst ways. Malcolm paid the price for J.T.’s mistake and he himself was bamboozled, leaving his hidden immunity idol back at camp when Sandra, Michaela and Jeff faked him out at Tribal Council.

Rating: 1 / 5

Social Gameplay

While in other seasons J.T. has been seen as decent guy, this season he seemed to rub some the wrong way with fellow castaways criticizing his brashness. One gets the feeling people for the most part didn’t mind hanging with him, they just didn’t appreciate his nagging at camp.

Rating: 3 / 5

Entertainment Value

jt4

J.T. was the centre of all of the drama this week and last. Watching J.T. implode his own game provided some of the very best entertainment we have had this season.

Final Castaway Rating: 8 / 15

Gold Amateur: James “J.T.” Thomas Jr.

J.T. not only dropped the ball, he then kicked it off a cliff and into a volcano.

Bronze MVP: Sarah Lacina and Troy “Troyzan” Robertson

This partnership between two players who have returned with a vengeance could be the core alliance of the season.

Silver MVP: Michaela Bradshaw

Michaela’s performance at Tribal Council was one of the very best ever and she has gained Sandra’s trust which could take them both far.

Gold MVP: Sandra Diaz-Twine

And the “Queen stays Queen”. Sandra pulled the wool over J.T.’s eyes in a sly but very clever move.
