Survivor: Island of the Idols Scoop – Week 11 Recap: Winners, Losers, Top Moments

“It is a tricky situation. All it takes is one little wrong decision and it is over. Your dream is dead,” said Elaine before everyone headed off to Tribal Council this week and as usual the factory worker from Kentucky has the wisdom of Solomon.

She didn’t take out the biggest threat by any stretch of the imagination but she was loyal to the strongest alliance in the game, that being Tommy and Lauren. Elaine, Tommy, Lauren, Dean and Noura can now control the game with Dan and Janet hung out to dry. If this group sticks together, what Elaine, Dean and Noura need to do is form a separate core alliance to protect themselves.

Playing with Noura though is like carrying nitroglycerin in a paper bag while walking on the broken glass-littered floor of the Nakatomi Plaza building and she flips more than the cook at your local pancake house or burger place. Who is she truly aligned with? Who does she really trust? I am not even sure Noura knows, to be honest.

Boston Rob was right about her performance at Tribal Council.

“How many times does someone lie to you and you let them get away with it, give them a second chance? One time, and if you get caught, that’s it,” he said to the Queen of Survivor, Sandra Diaz-Twine.

Keeping Noura to sit beside at the final Tribal Council may be good strategy. The thing is her gameplay is so combustible that she might double-cross you before you can get there. Players like Noura are so dangerous. They poison the game and the people in it the longer they are left around. Unreliable, turbulent loose cannons need to be voted out as soon as possible just to make sure there aren’t any surprises which could jeopardize your strategy going forward.

With just one episode left until the finale and seven Survivors still in the game, we are looking at six players making the finale and three players probably facing the jury. I have to say that I much prefer two finalists. The jury discussion is far more focused and intense when there are just two targets to vent at and criticize. That being said, this group is so unpredictable the final Tribal Council should have more fireworks than a Canada Day celebration.

Week 10: Game Fail – Karishma Patel

Karishma will never be remembered for being a crack Survivor player. She wasn’t particularly good at challenges. Her social game was unstable and shaky. Her strategic game did pick up near the end of her time on the island when it was too late to save her. Her game was a mess and never found stability.

Strategic Gameplay

Karishma floundered for much of the series beset by paranoia, self-doubt until her clash with Missy which brought out a fire in her. If she had only shown that kind of resolve and conviction at the start she might have had a very different Survivor journey.

Social Gameplay

When the numbers really dwindled her place in the social structure at camp became more solid and stable. It wasn’t enough though to change people’s minds about her.
