Survivor 35 Scoop – Week 11 Recap: Winners, Losers, Top Moments
John Powell – GobalTV.com
One single vote. One piece of parchment with one name written on it. That is all that it takes in Survivor: Heroes vs. Healers vs. Hustlers for one person’s game to end and one person to be saved.
Ben Driebergen didn’t just dodge a bullet last night. He dodged a railway gun size artillery shell that would have obliterated any chance he had at becoming the Sole Survivor and taking home that check for a million dollars. Every single castaway left in the game voted for him to leave. It was the Hidden Immunity Idol he had kept secret and his one vote for Lauren Rimmer that kept him in the game.
You can cheer for him or you can boo him but Ben’s play was absolutely outstanding. In contrast, Lauren was responsible for detonating her own game. Not only did she leave her extra vote power back at camp but she gave half of her Hidden Immunity Idol to Mike Zahalsky who then promptly threw it into the fire pit at Tribal Council. Lauren had the power to rescue herself but she made some unfortunate decisions.
Returning to Ben, if he can somehow regain his lost allies and turn the entire game around it will be perhaps the biggest comeback ever mounted on Survivor. No matter how things go though, next week’s episode is bound to have drama, drama and more drama.

Week 11: Game Fail – Lauren Rimmer
I cannot even begin to puzzle out why Lauren made the moves she did. Up until now she had been so careful and so measured about her schemes and strategy. When she needed her special powers the most she discards them and leaves them back at camp? You just cannot make mistakes like that in the final phase of the game.
Strategic Gameplay
Lauren was like a Black Shark torpedo. She was silent but deadly. It was great to see her evolve into a power player over the course of the series and make one of the biggest moves of Survivor: Heroes vs. Healers vs. Hustlers by breaking up the Round Table Alliance. She was very precise when it came to her strategic moves. It was stunning to see her fumble the ball she had carried so very well for 33 days.
Rating: 4 / 5
Social Gameplay
Lauren was very adaptive. She could relate to anyone at any time. People came to her for advice which is why she probably gained the trust that she did from others. She knew how to communicate well and be diplomatic.
Rating: 3 / 5
Entertainment Value
It is captivating to watch the evolution of any major Survivor player. Lauren’s journey was worth the ride even though it had a miserable ending.
Rating: 4 / 5
Final Castaway Rating: 11 / 15
Week 11: Powell’s Picks
Who played it cool and who proved themselves to be a fool? Every week John Powell makes his picks for the worst and best players of the week.
Bronze Amateur: Chrissy Hofbeck
She is playing with her heart and not her head. That could lead to her downfall.
Silver Amateur: Ben Driebergen
Just like Chrissy he is letting his emotions run away with his game.
Gold Amateur: Lauren Rimmer
She burned down her own game by making two big mistakes.
Bronze MVP: Ashley Nolan
Ashley is a serious competition threat and that could keep her in the game. She had better up her strategic game if she wants to have a well-rounded resume though.
Silver MVP: Mike Zahalsky
Interesting move to throw half of the Hidden Immunity Idol into the fire but Mike being the odd man out is sure getting a lot of attention. I wouldn’t be surprised if he is taken or dragged to the end at this point.
Gold MVP: Ben Driebergen
He played everyone perfectly. The question is can he come back from this and salvage his game?
