Have you noticed a change on The Young and the Restless lately? Storylines seem to be a bit more intense with subtle changes in style, music, and pace. Executive producer Mal Young has taken the reigns as head writer on the show, dethroning Sally Sussman whose episodes you’re used to seeing. Things have definitely turned up a notch, but are you impressed?

Beware: There are spoilers below!

Here’s what’s happened so far:

• A disastrous fire had us all wondering: Is Billy Abbott leaving Y&R? (the answer is no…at least not for now). In a surprise twist, Jack and Billy made up in a touching scene where Jack went to rescue him.

• Scott woke up next to a dead prostitute after getting too deep into the sex ring exposé, and is now being investigated for murder.

• Jack and Ashley went on a hunt for their mother, rescuing her from the clutches of Graham. The Graham storyline seems to be coming to a close.

• Phyllis stopped her whining and begging for Billy, and blew up in his face for betraying her.

• After one serious injury after the next, Victoria has finally been diagnosed with poisoning, sending her company into a downward spiral. She’s ultimately gone back to working at Newman Enterprises.
