Adam Driver was on The Late Show with Stephen Colbert promoting his new little film, maybe you’ve heard of it: The Last Jedi.

Driver showed up snazzily suited-up for the dark side: he truly was Kylo Ren out for a night on the town, in all black and, well, wait until you see the bottom of his shoes.

Colbert is truly a master at being objective, and allowing both sides of an argument get their word in. Because he had the light side of the Force represented last week with Mark Hamill, it’s only fair to give the dark side its say. He really let Driver speak his mind on Kylo Ren. You may remember him as the bratty, brooding, sloppy Force user throwing a tantrum all over The Force Awakens. Sure he murders people – beloved, fast-talking scoundrel kind of people – and wants to commit murder on a massive scale, but he’s just misunderstood. He’s not evil… right?

He may have a point. That’s what they all said about Lord Vader (Darth, to his friends) and he turned out to be a kind of okay dude. Yeah, yeah, he was also all about the large-scale murder and the vindictive killings of beloved mentor figures as well, but at least he had the decency to toss an old man over a balcony (if you haven’t seen Return of the Jedi, it really makes sense in context, honest). He was just a sweet man who missed his arms and legs. He’s not evil either… right?

Stephen drilled Driver about the film – which is in cinemas finally – because he hasn’t seen anything other than the odd trailer. The Star Wars cast, in their various appearances on The Late Show, haven’t brought clips with them. But Colbert puts on a ruse to get Driver to leak some juicy information on the formerly-anticipated The Last Jedi – he has Driver play out a scene from the film using Star Wars toys. Let’s just hope that what they do play out isn’t actually from The Last Jedi.

So there it is – the closest thing you’ll get to seeing The Last Jedi short of actually going to the cinema and seeing The Last Jedi. But the wait is over, folks – it’s in cinemas across the country, just in time for you to enjoy about 50 or 60 viewing before it leaves the cinema and arrives on home video and streaming services a mere few months later.
