Dr. Phil is not just a television talk host like our very beloved Stephen Colbert of The Late Show with Stephen Colbert. He’s also co-creator and producer of this season’s hottest show, Bull. And he was Stephen’s guest last night on The Late Show with Stephen Colbert.
Hot topics were boiling over throughout the show, and Dr. Phil’s segment was no exception – Colbert requested that Dr. Phil heal the nation before the good doctor could get settled in. He dove in head first to his solution to the problem on everyone’s mind.
Wise words, doc – if only so many of America’ leaders would listen with objectivity and open consideration. He strengthens his foothold in rationality throughout the interview, providing easy options on how to open dialogue, and setting himself, specifically, apart from the solution.
Of course, this is Colbert’s Late Show, so it had to get silly at some point to alleviate the seriousness of the prior conversation. Colbert brought up one of Dr. Phil’s recent guests on his daytime show, and how her catchphrase has made its way into popular vernacular:
Dr. Phil co-created Bull, starring former NCIS star Michael Weatherly, using his own life experience. Trained in forensic psychology, Dr. Phil McGraw had an early career that is now reflected in his new legal drama Bull. When the titular character is doing a psychological shakedown of one of his clients, that’s real-life Dr. Phil he’s channeling.
