Survivor: Winners at War Scoop – Week 7 Recap: Winners, Losers, Top Moments

Russell Hantz lied about being a victim of Hurricane Katrina. He also sabotaged his own camp by emptying their water containers, burning Jaison Robinson’s socks and hiding the tribe’s tools.

Knowing he was being voted off, Jeff Varner released all of the fish his tribe caught before heading to Tribal Council on Survivor: The Australian Outback.

On Survivor: Pearl Islands, Jonny Fairplay lied about his grandmother dying.

Although there are very few rules surrounding gameplay on Survivor crossing the line that others won’t just to gain an advantage has infuriated fans and players alike over the years.

While Yul’s plan to profit from Wendell Holland being voted off wasn’t as notorious as some of the more infamous Survivor strategies it did rub Nick and Michele the wrong way tipping the scales in Wendell’s favour at Tribal Council.

“I have an idea for how we might be able to get Wendell’s fire tokens. There is another part to this we could do, if we wanted to try and get Wendell’s fire tokens. We would tell Wendell he’d voting for me and Michele would be voting for me but the reality though is that you, me and Michele would vote out Wendell. That way, at least there’s some chance Michele might get Wendell’s fire tokens. In which case, I would have some risk because my name gets written down I would like some compensation. I’d like to get a fire token,” said Yul explaining his plan to Michele and Nick.

Nick’s “spider-sense” immediately went off.

“Yul wants to backstab Wendell and get the fire tokens Wendell has. It is definitely a dark, strange situation and I am slowly realizing that siding with Yul is super dangerous in this game,” said Nick ending his alliance with Yul over the plan.

At Tribal Council, Yul admitted he would be bitter if he was voted out but he might still work with Wendell, Michele and Nick because it might be his only option if he wins his way back into the game.

Next episode, Yul might get his wish if an Edge of Extinction competition coincides with the merge. Having the two original tribes split into three for a bit makes one wonder which alliances will hold true or will we be seeing an entirely new game develop when the merge brings the three tribes together. Week 7: Game Fail – Yul Kwon

If he had just stuck to his original plan and didn’t overthink things, Yul might be still on the island and not vacationing on the Edge of Extinction waiting for a chance to win his way back. Being unable to pull back, to rein themselves in is the reason why so many power players end up getting their torches snuffed long before they should.

Strategic Gameplay

Yul was doing fine until his overplayed his hand. His allies realized it would be Yul’s way or the highway and that wasn’t the game they wanted to play even though Yul was responsible for creating an alliance against those with connections outside of the game.

Social Gameplay

Once again, Yul was a very loyal player to those he was aligned with such as when he warned Sandra about Tyson’s plot to get her out. Although it wasn’t perfect, he played a better social game than he did on Cook Islands.

Entertainment Value

Yul will always be known as one of the most intelligent Survivor winners of all time. Being an all-around nice guy though doesn’t exactly make for enthralling reality television. It was great to see Yul come out of his shell more on Winners at War.

Who played it cool and who proved themselves to be a fool? Every week John Powell makes his picks for the worst and best players of the week.

Bronze Amateur: Wendell Holland

He continues to play a really shady game. It wouldn’t be a surprise if he is one of the next to be voted out.

Silver Amateur: Adam Klein

Adam continues to make himself a target and prove himself paranoid and untrustworthy. Just like Wendell, his time in the game is numbered.

Gold Amateur: Yul Kwon

He just didn’t know when to quit scheming.

Bronze MVP: Rob Mariano

He sure outsmarted the others once again. As far as fire tokens go, he’s a rich man.

Silver MVP: Michele Fitzgerald

She is surpassing her former gameplay, making all the right moves and saying all the right things to the right people.

Gold MVPs: Nick Wilson

He was quick to realize that he was backing the wrong horse and shifted his Survivor strategy midstream. Being able to adapt to the ebb and flow of the game is a skill of any great Survivor winner.
