SNL: Emma Thompson to Host Penultimate Episode of Season

Emma Thompson will host this weekend’s episode of Saturday Night Live, with The Jonas Brothers as musical guest!

Get right and ready – you need to prepare yourself. There are only two episodes of Saturday Night Live left this season. It’s true. But don’t worry – the remaining host line up is killer. For the season finale in a couple weeks, you’ll get to see Paul Rudd do his thing. But first, before that, there’s this weekend, with host Emma Thompson!

This will be Thompson’s first time hosting SNL. It’s not a romcom, or a Shakespearean adaptation, or based on a Jane Austen novel, but that won’t slow her down. Just because she does those things a lot doesn’t mean she isn’t also amazing at sketch comedy. You don’t know. In fact, she has been amazing at sketch comedy, in her earlier years as an actor, alongside the great comedic duo Fry and Laurie.

A real actor’s actor, Thompson shines in live theatre. And that’s technically what Saturday Night Live is – don’t let its status as an internationally broadcast and syndicated television show fool you. Expect greatness from Emma Thompson this weekend. She rarely delivers anything less.

Oh, and also expect some meta Jane Austin references. And Love Actually sketches. She can’t seem to get away from that demon.

So this season, season 44 of Saturday Night Live, is wrapping up. And what do we have to show for it? Laughs, tears, friendships, a large cable and internet bill and a whole load of missed Saturday night parties. But it’s all been worth it, because we’ve be given some of the best episodes yet. Keep tuning in, for a couple more weeks, to enjoy the last of season 44. And to wait in excited anticipation for season 45!
