Late Show: Stephen Colbert Returns Live for Democratic Debates

It’s debate round two for the Democratic Presidential candidates, and The Late Show with Stephen Colbert is going live to give you immediate coverage!

On July 30 and July 31 at 11.35 et/pt on Global, The Late Show with Stephen Colbert will broadcast live after the American Democratic Presidential debates.

Last month The Late Show went live to cover the first set of Democratic debates for a post-debate rundown/roast fest. The almost-up-to-the-minute coverage included mocking the debaters (mostly Beto O’Rourke to be honest, though) and giving the legit platform highlights of the front-runners (mostly Kamala Harris tbh). But he mostly remained impartial, poking fun at each candidate indiscriminately and equally.

Except for Beto. That dude seriously got raked through the coals.

During the first debates, Stephen had knowledgeable guests from both sides of the aisle: Representative Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez gave her opinion on the debate the first evening, and former Governor Chris Christie gave his on the second (a despicable person though he may be, he (surprisingly) had valuable insight). Guests for this round of debates are still TBD, but you can bet they’re going to be good ones – special events like live broadcasts have political A-listers lining up to be on the show.

Most elections are filled with mud-slinging, finger pointing and general playground tactics. The 2020 American election isn’t going to be any different – especially not with the mud-slinger-in-chief Donald Trump as the incumbent. The Democrats are tripping over themselves to get that guy out of office, so they really want to make sure they have the best chance with their candidate – whomever he or she may be. Unfortunately that doesn’t mean the Democratic debates don’t stoop to such a level. Joe Biden got defensive, then offensive, during the last debate. Words were said. People were called names. Bernie Sanders yelled, more than usual. And Kamala Harris put everyone in their place.

But, at least it makes for entertaining television. So be sure to watch the live Democratic debate coverage on The Late Show with Stephen Colbert July 30 and July 31 at 11.35 et/pt on Global!
