Important changes for over-the-air channels
A: There’s been an important change to how you watch Global TV via over-the-air channels (with an antenna). Global TV along with other Canadian television broadcasters is in the process of changing some of our over-the-air DTV channels as part of an initiative mandated by Innovation, Science, and Economic Development Canada (ISED). This means that the Global TV channel(s) in some areas must change their DTV channel frequency. Depending on where you live, the changes will take place in June or July 2020. If you use an over-the-air rooftop or indoor antenna to watch Global TV, you will need to re-scan these channels to restore service.
The changes taking place are mostly hidden to you, the viewer, and the channel number displayed on your television set will remain the same as what you normally see.
A: Below are a few easy steps for you to follow to re-scan the affected television channel(s) in your area. Please also refer to your TV manual for model-specific details (Please note, viewers with direct-to-home TV, cable or IPTV will not be affected).
- Press “Settings” or “Menu” on the TV remote control
- Click “Channel”
- Select “Auto Channel Program” This will update the Global TV channel(s) in your area and restore service.
The above process can take several minutes to complete.
A: Scheduling decisions are always made after careful thought and consideration, based on a number of factors. Although we realize that not every decision will please everyone, we care a great deal about our audience and we welcome viewer feedback and comments to help us continue making informed programming decisions.
