The Unicorn’s Rob Corddry was on The Late Show with his old buddy Stephen Colbert to talk season two and how he’s dealt with COVID-19.

The Unicorn Season Two

The Unicorn, starring Walton Goggins and airing on Global on Thursdays at 9.30 et, started its second season earlier this month. Despite COVID-19, the show’s second season went into production earlier this year. But don’t worry – they’ve been extra careful with COVID protocols. And even though – or because – COVID-19 is what everyone’s still talking about, the show won’t be addressing it this season. As Corddry says, they want their show to be an escape from that.

But just because The Unicorn won’t address COVID-19, doesn’t mean they won’t address current events and big cultural moments.

Corddry’s character does have an episode – premiering next Thursday, Dec. 3 at 9.30 et on Global – where he’s making personal reparations to alleviate his white privilege. Stephen’s response is “It’s hard to make that funny” – which it is. Because it’s pointing out the next level of privilege of being able to remove that level of responsibility with privilege. It’s quite a significant social commentary coming from The Unicorn, and Rob Corddry really did his work to bring it home.

And he still managed to make it funny!
