TV Guide has reported that The Young and the Restless has recast one of it’s most popular characters, Phyllis Newman.
Gina Tognoni will be waking up from her new character’s coma as the new Phyllis. The two-time Emmy winner reportedly had a “flawless” audition, according to TV Guide’s sources.
Tognoni’s soap credits include Guiding Light, One Life to Live and Venice: The Series. With her almost twenty years of experience, the showrunners at Y&R have placed a very intense storyline in her hands.
Phyllis Newman was played by Michelle Stafford until summer last year.
Will Phyllis wake up remember the fall that landed her in a coma? Or that Sharon (Sharon Case) tampered with the paternity tests to make it look like Jack (Peter Bergman) is Summer’s (Hunter King) father?
What will happen to Jack and Kelly (Cady McClain) since they’re now dating? How is Summer going to take it all of this? Or Nick (Josh Morrow)?
The 40 year-old actress Tweeted today a hint of things to come:
