Here comes the general: last night on The Late Show with Stephen Colbert, Christopher Jackson, from the hit series Bull, came for a visit with his old buddy Stephen Colbert. You can tell they’re buddies, because Stephen razzes Christopher Jackson before he even sits down.
That’s right, before starring on Bull as Chunk Palmer, Christopher Jackson was the General George Washington in the original cast of the Broadway smash hit musical Hamilton. A great voice and a great actor, Jackson is probably best known for his role as Washington – and you can see he learned a lot from it. But, as Stephen attests, we don’t have figures like George Washington around anymore, in this turbulent political climate. To play such an affecting character, it’s hard for Jackson to not be effected by that, to the point of reflecting on Washington, today’s political figures, and his most favourite fictional political figures.
But back to Bull – if you aren’t familiar with the series, Michael Weatherly (formerly of NCIS) plays a courtroom psychologist named Jason Bull. So in case you have missed out on Bull (and if that is the case, you have missed out – but don’t worry, you can definitely catch up here on GlobalTV.com!), Christopher Jackson is here to give you the rundown.
So, now that you know Bull, you can now know the “totally real” next step for Bull, and that’s Bull: The Musical. When you have a vocal talent like Christopher Jackson, it’s almost rude to him and everyone watching him to have him on screen and never singing. Christopher Jackson recognizes this – he’s not one to see his fans suffering so. Without hesitation, Jackson jumped at the opportunity to help create Bull: The Musical (remember, something that is actually real and will happen (don’t be fooled, it’s not real and it won’t happen – sorry to get your hopes up)) and be a creative force behind bringing it to life. Where else better to do a world premier of one of the songs from it than The Late Show with Stephen Colbert? Christopher Jackson impressed everyone yet again with his beautiful singing in this original number from the “upcoming” Bull: The Musical. And in typical Stephen Colbert fashion, he gets in on some of that singing too.
An original song from one of the original Hamilton cast members. What more could you want from The Late Show?
