The end is nearing for the Heroes, the Healers and the Hustlers. The final push to the title of Sole Survivor and the million dollar check is just around the corner. Before that happens we take a look at the best and worst of Survivor 35.
The Insert Foot Into Mouth Award
Winners: Cole Medders
Nice guy. Not the greatest player. Cole said the wrong thing at the wrong time so many times it is hard to ignore that he stuck his foot in his mouth more times than any Survivor this season.
The Phillip Sheppard Award
Awarded to the worst dressed Survivor.
Winners: Ryan Ulrich and Mike Zahalsky
The fashion world does not need Ryan’s unsuitable red turtleneck, his pink short shorts or Doctor Mike’s grimy yellow t-shirt.
The Marissa Cooper Award
Named after The OC’s most infamous departure, this award is given to the Survivor who we wished would have stuck around a little bit longer.
Winner: Alexandrea “Ali” Elliott
She had the makings of a sharp and resilent competitor but her game was damaged by the twists, including the casting of Patrick Bolton.
The Richard Hatch Award
Given to the contestant who has masterfully schemed and outwitted their fellow players.
Winners: Ben Driebergen and Lauren Rimmer.
Every step of the way Ben was manipulating people, he was confounding people and he was outwitting them all with a massive target on his back. Lauren was more precise about her game-changing strikes.
The Susan Richards Award
Named after the member of Marvel’s Fantastic Four and her superhuman ability to turn invisible.
Winner: Roark Luskin
Unfortunately, the palm trees and fish in the ocean got more screentime.
The Space Ghost Award
Named after Hanna-Barbera’s intergalactic superhero who could use his Inviso-Belt to turn, well, invisible.
Winner: Patrick Bolton
Besides his antics and disagreements with Ali, he had no influence on this season in any way.
The Russell Hantz Award
Awarded to the Survivor with the worst social game.
Winners: Simone Nguyen, Katrina Radke and Patrick Bolton
None of them ever really gelled with their tribes. For some it was their behaviour, for others is was just personality clashes.
The Erik Reichenbach Award
Recognizing the most foolish strategic move of the season.
Winner: Cole Medders
Sure, he made it farther than Jessica, however, he proved he is one of the worst alliance partners the game has ever seen based on the strategic and social decisions he made which eventually backed him into a corner where he had to win Immunity to survive.
Best Twist of the Season
Being able to anonymously gift the Super-Idol to a member of the losing tribe was brilliant.
Terms of Endearment Award
Awarded to the most heart-breaking moment of the season.
Winner: The family visit.
Lots of tears and lots of love.
If At First You Don’t Succeed Award
Awarded to the Survivor who deserve to play again.
Winners: Alexandrea “Ali” Elliott, Jessica Johnston, Joe Mena.
All three Survivors had all the skills to make it further in the game. It is a shame their games ended as they did. They deserve a second crack to show what they can really do.
