Samantha Bee Admits To Grand Theft Auto & Trump Fatigue In Late Show Interview

Former car thief, self-proclaimed delinquent and Full Frontal host Samantha Bee visited her old pal and former Daily Show co-correspondent Stephen Colbert on The Late Show.

That’s right, Samantha Bee dropped a pretty big truth bomb – in her youth, one of her favoured pastimes was grand theft auto (and not the popular video game series of the same name). She stole cars with her boyfriend as a teenager. Yikes. But she straightened out (and hopefully there’s a statute of limitations on that kind of thing – because if not, she just provided what might qualify as a taped confession).

More to the point, though, Samantha Bee hosts Full Frontal with Samantha Bee, a late night political comedy show similar to The Daily Show with Trevor NoahThe Opposition with Jordan Klepper and Last Week Tonight with John Oliver. And if you’ve been watching those other shows (which you probably haven’t, because they air at the same time as The Late Show on some other network that you probably don’t get anyway so don’t bother checking), you might have noticed that they attended this past weekend’s massive March For Our Lives student protest in the United States. In Washington, D.C. and across the rest of the country students gathered to protest the current gun laws, calling for change for stricter gun laws. And Full Frontal with Samantha Bee was there to show support.

Again, like The Late Show and those aforementioned shows that you shouldn’t watch because they’re not as good as The Late Show, Samantha Bee has been relentless in targeting Donald Trump on Full Frontal. It’s been 400-odd days since his inauguration (and even more since he was elected, was campaigning for election and more still since he was just that clown who thought he could be President…) and Samantha and Stephen can’t help but share war stories, and compare where they are in the marathon that is Trump (it’s not looking good for either of them, with no finish line in sight). Also, she has some choice things to say about Trump’s new National Security Advisor, John Bolton.

Now, it’s been a while since hurricane Maria happened, and it’s way out of the news cycle by now (and that might be what makes this even more important), but Samantha Bee took her show down to Puerto Rico, to support them since they’re still reeling from the hurricane. It’s important to not forget about these victims just because President Trump isn’t throwing supplies at them anymore.

Colbert has such good chemistry when his former Daily Show pals show up on The Late Show, Samantha Bee top among them. The next time she’s on the show again isn’t soon enough.
