Cast of The Big Bang Theory Does Series Send Off on The Late Show

The Big Bang Theory has come to an end after 12 years, and to commemorate the occasion, the entire cast appeared on a very special episode of The Late Show with Stephen Colbert!

The main cast of The Big Bang Theory, Jim Parsons, Johnny Galecki, Miyam Bialik, Kaley Cuoco, Simon Helberg, Kunal Nayyar and Melissa Rauch, were all there on The Late Show to send off their 12-year-running sitcom. At 279 episodes, it’s among the longest running non-animated sitcoms, ever, so far, even beating out classics Cheers and The Donna Reed Show.

There weren’t any tears, but lots of laughs among the cast as they reminisced about the last 12 years filming The Big Bang Theory. But they were probably trying to hold it back. And even though their show has officially ended now, the entire cast gives their seal of approval on the series finale.

The ending of a television series is like the last day of summer camp, or senior year in high school… or mass layoffs at the office (sadly, there are only depressing adult equivalents of this particular situation). Everyone loses their job and moves on. So naturally, everyone wants mementos. And the cast and crew of BBT put together the least-adult thing they could think of: a yearbook!

There are a whole bunch of these books out there, signed entirely by the cast and crew, so keep checking eBay if you just have to have one of those yearbooks. Surely a down-on-their-luck PA will be forced into making a bad decision sometime.

Yes, it was a Big Bang extravaganza on The Late Show. Even the Barenaked Ladies were they to perform the show’s theme song in full length. They wrote it, you know.

But the really excited part of the evening was the back-to-back pre-Q&A period Stephen hosted. First, Stephen had the cast submit their own questions, anonymously, that they had for each other. And he read them aloud, for the cast to answer, not anonymously. And there are some revealing secrets, boy.

Later, Stephen read questions submitted by fans, via twitter. They aren’t as salacious, but easily just as edifying.

Another series wrap for three cam sitcom guru (and Big Bang creator) Chuck Lorre. At least he managed to not fantasy-kill a former colleague on this one. And that’s that for one of the most, if not, arguably, the most popular sitcoms in television history. Poof. Gone. Unless of course you consider syndication, in which case… yeah it will be around for years to come, several times a day.
