This weekend will be the third, and hopefully last, SNL where the content is made entirely at home while the entire cast and crew practices social distancing.
It’s been a weird and unfortunately short season for SNL. With the upcoming season finale being the 18th episode of the season, it will come up short three episodes. As well, John Krasinski was indefinitely bumped from hosting his very first episode.
The past two at home episodes boasted too many cameos to even begin naming. From past cast members like Tina Fey and Adam Sandler to big name celebrities like Miley Cyrus and Brad Pitt, the two episodes were just overflowing with celebrities at home (who were probably more than happy to cameo from the comfort of their home rather than jetting to New York).
It feels like a bit of a fizzle-out for the season. Without a proper host and all the usual fanfare a season finale gets, it will definitely seem different. But the gang at SNL is a dedicated bunch, and they’ve proven over the past two episodes that they’re willing to hustle to put out the same quality content that they would be if they were still in New York, doing the show live.
That said, this is a (hopefully) once-in-a-lifetime television event! Saturday Night Live bigs up their finales, so the stops they’re going to be pulling will only be limited by the restrictions set upon them by health professionals! You won’t want to miss it, because there won’t be anything like it, ever (again, hopefully)!
