This weekend Saturday Night Live returns with host Billie Eilish and musical guest… Billie Eilish!
It’s been two years since Billie Eilish appeared in that cool spinning room (pictured above) to perform her song bad guy. A lot is happened since those two years.
But some of what happened during that time was actually good! One of those things was Eilish’s new album Happier Than Ever. From which you can presume she’ll be playing a couple songs. The musical guests don’t come on the show to do the old hits, they do the new hits. Unless you’re Paul Simon.
There are a bunch of musicians who have done an episode of SNL as both host and musical guest. Like, so many that it’s not really even that notable of a thing anymore. It might make some articles, at the tail end like a last minute thought. But don’t think that anyone would spend much time, or even more than half a sentence, on commenting about the long history of musicians hosting and performing in the same episode. Just because it started with Paul Simon being the first ever to do it (because Paul Simon gets what he wants on SNL) which started a trend throughout the 1970s and 1980s, all the way to its apex in 1991, when MC Hammer hosted the show and performed “Too Legit to Quit”, “Addams Groove” and “This Is The Way We Roll”.
Also Eminem, Lily Tomlin, Britney Spears etc. etc.
So tune in this weekend to see it all happen again with Billie Eilish! Catch a brand new Saturday Night Live this Saturday December 11 11.30 et/8.30 pt on Global!
Saturday Night Live can be streamed live and On Demand on the new Global TV App and on STACKTV. Global is also available through all major TV service providers.
