Saturday Night Live is back after two weeks off – and a long two weeks they were without the necessary satire, parodies and impersonations that go along with American’s current Trump administration. Academy Award nominee and star of Hidden Figures Octavia Spencer hosted the show last night, and did better than most who get up on the stage. While her monologue was short-but-sweet, she gave it her all in each and every sketch. No wonder she was recognized by the Academy.
Since the last, Alec Baldwin-hosted episode of Saturday Night Live which publicly flayed Donald Trump and Sean Spicer (notoriously portrayed by Melissa McCarthy) – among others – everyone has been wondering who’s on the chopping block this week. The answer: Jeff Sessions, Attorney General of the United States. Beloved Kate McKinnon reprises her role as sessions in a Forest Gump-style cold open, because who says 20-year-old references can’t be relevant? Octavia Spencer joins in the fun as her character from The Help, Minny Jackson!
