Alison Sweeney leaving Days of Our Lives after 21 years

Alison Sweeney announced Tuesday that this will be her last year working on Days of our Lives.

Sweeney, who has played Sami Brady on Days for 21 years, started in 1993 at the age of 16.

She said she would like to spend more time with kids, Megan and Benjamin.

“I just have worked so much and my daughter just turned 5 and my son is 9, and I just want to be with them and enjoy my last year. I’m going to be on Days all this year,” Sweeney told daytime talk show host Ellen Degeneres.

In addition to her role on Days, Sweeney has also been the host of The Biggest Loser for 7 years.

Will she be killed off? Will she just be sent away? Will she be recast? No one knows yet when her last day will be, but Sweeney did muse on the idea of Sami’s ending.

“It would be awesome to have some sort of happy ending,” she said.

“I also think Sami deserves some sort of twisted Breaking Bad ending. She’s caused a lot of people a lot of problems.”

Along with spending more time with her family, Sweeney said she will continue her writing career, adding that her second book will be coming out soon.

What do you think about Sweeney leaving? How do you think Sami Brady should leave Salem? Do you think she should be recast?
