I suspect many of you may be wondering what that loud WHACK! you heard was during Survivor: David vs. Goliath last night? Well, that was the sound a karma boomerang makes when it strikes its target with a satisfying bullseye. With visions of sugar plums and big Survivor moves dancing in her head, Gabby Pascuzzi did elect to turn on her one true ally, her one true friend in the game: Christian Hubicki. Not only did Gabby stab him in the back but she insisted that all of Christian’s goodwill throughout the game towards her wasn’t genuine.

He ducked and darted his way through the game with finesse rarely seen on Survivor. Alec Merlino though is quick to admit that it was the people he was playing the game with who made it easier for him to be a double agent and anticipate which side, which alliance he needed to get close to every week after the merger.

Look out, Rob Mariano. Survivor: David vs. Goliath has a new Godfather and his name is Carl Boudreaux. While he will admit he was outspoken about whom he wanted voted out and why, Carl is not sure why he was labeled the Godfather when others were just as adamant and just as vocal.

Forget Black Friday. Never mind Cyber Monday. Survivor: David vs. Goliath had a two-for-one deal on evictions last night.
Carl Boudreaux  ‘The Godfather’ and Alec Merlino became the latest members of the jury clearly signifying that the old tribal lines have truly been erased. In one of the very strangest Survivor exits ever, Carl not only figured he could continually boss around people in his alliance but he could guzzle beer like it was spring water on a reward, reveal his plans to Kara Kay about voting out one of her allies and for her to agree, support the plan. Perhaps the truck driver from Texas has been inhaling too much carbon monoxide if he thought he wouldn’t face any repercussions for those kinds of mistakes.

He had two Hidden Immunity Idols. He excelled at the challenges. His social game was broken but it might have been fixed if he had been given more time. Dan Rengering looked as if he would make it to the final phase of Survivor: David vs. Goliath but it was not to be. An Idol Nullifier played by Carl Boudreaux cut the cables on his safety net and down came Dan. Despite his ruthless exit Dan is not resentful.

As Jeff Probst said himself a David is someone who hasn’t been given any advantages. They have to scratch and claw throughout their lives just to get ahead, just to survive. If you are just tuning into Survivor: David vs. Goliath, you would have to be forgiven if you thought the David Tribe were the Goliaths and vice versa considering all of the advantages in play. Another week, another Tribal Council and another player gets taken out of the game due to an advantage. Actually, make that multiple advantages.

The mayor of Slam Town has been pinned. A victim of the rarely seen Brochacho blindside maneuver, veteran professional wrestler and actor John Hennigan became the seventh person voted out this season and the second member of the Survivor: David vs. Goliath jury.

John Hennigan, known to wrestling fans as John Morrison, Johnny Nitro, Johnny Mundo and his other personas, didn’t make any grievous mistakes during his Survivor: David vs. Goliath game. He just got caught in the crossfire being an alliance mate of Dan Rengering’s. At Tribal Council, Dan used his Hidden Immunity Idol to save Angelina Keeley and Davie Rickenbacker used his to save Christian Hubicki. The Davids split their votes booting John from the game.

For die-hard Survivor fan and the first member of this season’s jury, Elizabeth Olson, there are many things that stand out for her after watching Survivor: David vs. Goliath play out. The first was even though she understood why the David Alliance eventually voted her out, she had no idea that Carl Boudreaux was vehemently lobbying everyone back at camp to do so.

I will give the Goliaths this much, in the end they stuck to the plan. After the alliance debated between voting out Christian Hubicki and Elizabeth Olson then Mike White, Alison Raybould and Alec Merlino all went rogue courting members of the David Alliance and then a spurned Angelina Keeley gave Elizabeth a heads-up about the up-coming vote, the Goliaths all got back on the same page making Elizabeth the first member of Survivor: David vs. Goliath’s jury.

In the battle of the Davids and the Goliaths, the Goliaths lead by 7 to 6 castaways at the merger. With such a narrow margin, nothing can be taken for granted. Based on their gameplay thus far and the impressions of the other castaways here is our Survivor: David vs. Goliath mid-season report card on all of those who are still left in the hunt for the title of Sole Survivor and the million dollar prize this season.

Who would have guessed that in a cutthroat game of Survivor: David vs. Goliath that an everyday jacket and some ordinary eggs could come to mean so much? “Oh, my god! Jacketgate. I had no idea it was going to be such a big thing. It was just a jacket. It was my jacket. I needed a jacket for the game and I choose that one. It was my property,” laughed Lyrsa Torres-Velez who was at the centre of a tug of war over her own jacket on Survivor.

On a not-too-spooky Halloween night episode of Survivor: David vs. Goliath there were more tricks than treats for the Jabeni Tribe. For the second week in a row the tribe found themselves meeting with Jeff Probst and this time the bigger numbers game came into play. Getting the evil eye from the Goliath members on the other tribes for voting out Natalie Cole, Angelina Keeley and Mike White stuck together giving dead weight and David Alliance member Lyrsa Torres the heave-ho while keeping Nick Wilson.

For the second Survivor episode in a row the original Goliath alliance voted out one of their own and in doing so has evened the overall numbers of Goliaths and Davids. If the tribes were to merge next week each group would have seven players. Will these judgment calls alter the course of the game? Stay tuned.

Jeremy Crawford not only let his feelings of mistrust get the better of him but he let everyone on his tribe know that he had. That is often a lethal Survivor mistake, especially when it is committed early on in the game. Constantly questioning everyone’s actions and motives, becoming too intense with people when you have only known them for nine days or less is a recipe for disaster.
