A (man who plays a) god himself hosted Saturday Night Live this past weekend: Chris Hemsworth of The Avengers fame! The cocky Australian put on his smarmy charm for his hosting duties, turning his opening monologue into full contact hunting season, roughing up the cast of SNL as he wandered the 8th floor halls of 30 Rockefeller Center.
Bullying aside, Hemsworth continued playing the role of self-obsessed Hollywood hunk when he donned a wig and dress to play himself going under cover, to do some quality market research on where he stands on the hotness scale:
The team at SNL focused on Hemsworth’s celebrity and appearance in the sketches – not an uncommon practice when the host is a high-profile actor without a specific penchant for comedy. However, Hemsworth carried himself remarkably (and hilariously) well among the pros at SNL, playing a range from super serious to overtly goofy, all to great comedic effect.
But the biggest joke of all was on the ladies of the audience when Hemsworth was featured in a sketch as a stripper. Nobody gets their money’s worth from this one:
One more week of Saturday Night Live left this year! It’s SNL alumni Tina Fey and Amy Poehler co-hosting, with Bruce Springsteen and The E Street Band rocking the year out! Don’t miss it, airing Saturday at 11.30 et/pt, on Global!
