Cythnia Watros joins The Young and the Restless

You’ll see a new face in Genoa City as Cynthia Watros joins The Young and the Restless cast.

Watros will play Kelly, a woman Billy (played by Billy Miller) meets in a support group for parents who have lost their children. Billy is of course grieving after losing his daughter Delia.

Many will know Watros as Libby from the J.J. Abrams hit show Lost, but she is no stranger to daytime television, earning Outstanding Lead Actress at the 1998 Daytime Emmys for her role as Annie Dutton on Guiding Light.
"[Kelly] is a grieving mother who lost her son and she is in this supportive, grieving group where she meets Billy," Watros recently told On-Air On-Soaps about her new daytime role.

"She is taking a little hiatus from her teaching job because of losing her son. I think she’s just a woman trying to get back to some normalcy in her life."

Perhaps hinting at the drama to come, Watros added, “I hope with Kelly, I can dive into some issues where I can have some fun like I did with Annie."

Annie on Guiding Light was pure crazy!

During her tenure on Guiding Light, the show was being run by none other than current Y&R executive producer, Jill Farren Phelps, who is known for making bold decisions both on and off screen.

“She’s a perfect combination of someone who knows what she’s doing, and she’s a strong woman,” Watros says of Phelps.

“She’s been working in this field for a very long time, and she’s welcoming and warm. I think when I came on to Guiding Light I was such a newbie and so inexperienced. Jill just carried me through my first year and showed me the ropes and was very gentle. I have a very warm spot for her.”

And it seems she needed just a little bit more hand-holding to get back into the swing of things — or at least getting around her new studio.

“I kept getting lost at CBS while trying to find my way around to the dressing rooms and stuff, and Billy was very sweet to me. He goes, 'Can I help you?' I think I know my way now, but he’s lovely and he’s so good… and it’s so fun to act with him.”
