Days of our Lives - Chanlder Massey, Casey Deidrick

What do you do after you leave your years-long job on a soap opera? Is the answer join a heavy metal-band?

Well, Days of our Lives stars Casey Deidrick (DAYS - Chad DiMera) and Chandler Massey (DAYS - Will Horton) in fact already have a heavy-metal band. What’s more, they’re going to be making a music video about living with cystic fibrosis, a recessive genetic disorder that affects mostly the lungs, care of a Kickstarter campaign that raised over $30,000.

Last month, Deidrick confirmed a rumour via Twitter that he’s leaving Days of our Lives, and in fact has already taped his final episode. Whereas Massey had just won his second consecutive Emmy, also last month, when told Soap Central, "[The show] has changed my life for the better. I came out to Los Angeles and enrolled in UCLA, and I think that after [my current contract] is up [in December], I want to go back to school. I want to graduate. I want to have a degree. I just want to keep looking forward."

Hey Chandler, when you say you want to go “back to school” do you mean graduating from the “School of Rock”? And by “looking forward” do you mean adding a Grammy to your Emmys?

Maybe that’s a bit premature, but their band, The Last of Us, which features Deidrick on lead vocals and Massey on keyboard and also vocals, hasn’t even been around for a year, but they are working on a 5 song EP, and will be turning their song, “Sixty-Five Roses”, into a music video thanks to the money they raised.

Here is the video from the Kickstarter campaign.

Their campaign ended up raising over $10,000 more than they were asking for, offering perks like a virtual thanks on Twitter from Casey and Chandler for $10, or a virtual thanks and a digital copy of their 5 song EP “Orchard Road” for $20, or for $100, you get all that, plus an autographed DVD or the music video and a phone call from both Chandler and Casey thanking you for your support.

And of course, you should hear the song, "Sixty-Five Roses, which will raise awareness for what is a very serious disease. Here it is!
