Y&R News

Former Y&R executive producer Paul Rauch dies

Legendary soap opera executive producer, Paul Rauch, died this week at the age of 78 in New York, following an illness. He is survived by his wife Israela Margalit.

Rauch really understood daytime drama, making his mark at the helm of One Life to Live, Santa Barbara, Another World, Guiding Light and Texas (as co-creator). The last show he ran was, of course, The Young and the Restless from 2008-2011.

Maria Arena Bell, the recently ousted Y&R EP worked with Rauch on developing a show for NBC called Coming of Age, and later on Y&R. She tells Soap Opera Digest, “I considered Paul a great friend and he and Israela were at my wedding. Paul was from the old school of soaps and he really knew how to run a show and understood the value of the writer in the process. I loved working with him and I loved him dearly as a person and am heartsick to hear he has passed. I wish the best to Israela and their grown children and will really miss him."

Crystal Chappell (former Carly Manning, DAYS) who worked with him on Guiding Light, tweeted, “Paul Rauch was a dear man to me...he will be missed. Love and prayers to his family.”

Michael Muhney (Adam Newman, Y&R) Tweeted: RIP Paul Rauch. You were my boss, my collaborator, my fan, my advisor, and my friend.

Current Y&R head writer Josh Griffith, writes on Facebook, "The Soap World mourns the loss of one of our giants, Paul Rauch. R.I.P., my friend. Go produce the hell out of Heaven now."

Daniel Goddard (Cane Ashby, Y&R), also on Facebook said, “Today we lost Paul Rauch... And the world is emptier for it. I will miss you my friend. Thank u for everything u did for me. The things that u taught me will stay with me for life. Rest in Peace.”

Goodbye Michael Graziadei on Y&R

Soap Opera Digest is reporting that Michael Graziadei (Daniel Romalatti, Y&R) will not return to Genoa City after 8 years on the show. The staff and cast held a goodbye party for the 33 year old actor. His tv mother, Michelle Stafford (Phyllis Summers, Y&R) tweeted out this goodbye on November 30th, the day of the party, ”Another scene with my Grazzzzz #reallycrying" .

Blake Berris in Sci-Fi short

Check out his Sci-Fi short film Blake Berris (Nick Fallon, DAYS) is in. He’s a robot! The short film is kind of reminiscent of Blade Runner, which makes me wish the film were called Blake Runner.
