About The Show
What's in the name?
Most often, 16x9 material offers better quality and a bigger picture. The series program title is inspired by the aspect ratio of high-definition television sets: conventional TV usually broadcasts in 4x3 format, but hi-def is in 16x9. The series investigates stories in a fast-paced weekly, video-driven format.
16x9 is a hard hitting weekly investigative news magazine format that promises to deliver the bigger picture -- a dynamic new current affairs show with flare.
16x9 will feature exclusive ground-breaking investigations, present an in-depth look at the lives of prominent newsmakers, and outline stories about ordinary Canadians caught in extraordinary circumstances.
Unlike the other news magazine shows presently on air, 16x9's studio will be the streets of Canada: a fast-paced, dynamic, video-driven concept highlighted by a vibrant digital graphic package and presented weekly by the Global News team of reporters, anchors and the Emmy Award-winning investigative journalist Mary Garofalo. No studios, but an exceptional style of reporter-centered investigation that makes the hosts the reporters and will always feature stories that are of Canadian importance.

Prior to that, she spent six years as an anchor and reporter with the syndicated news magazine A Current Affair - a role that took her from war zones to the White House, with plenty of scandals to cover in between.
A Toronto native, Mary is well known to Ontario audiences for her extensive work both in radio and on City TV, where she was a hard-hitting reporter and anchor before being lured south to serve as prime-time news anchor with WPIX in New York.

Carolyn Jarvis is returning to her native Vancouver, joining 16x9 as the West Coast Correspondent and also Global National as a reporter and anchor. She spent the last four years in Alberta, most recently reporting for Global Edmonton and previously for RDTV in Red Deer. A graduate of the Vancouver Academy of Music, Carolyn has a degree in classical music. She transitioned into television when she moved to Toronto, working at the Weather Network.
