'Tis The Season: Global TV's Hot New Fall Lineup

May 30 2012, 02:00 PM by Christine Montgomery

Faced with the difficult task of narrowing down the shows airing on Global this fall to the most buzzworthy, we've hand-picked five highlights hot off the press from Global's recently announced fall lineup as our picks for the most exciting new and returning shows airing on Global this upcoming fall season.

 Chicago Fire

 Scheduled Wednesdays at 10.00 et/pt

"Chicago Fire" will air Wednesdays at 10.00 et/pt

The skinny: Chicago Fire is series all about high stakes and big egos. Whether seeking the adrenaline rush of a show where action sequences erupt out of nowhere, or the steamy intensity of watching relationships that smoulder, Chicago Fire is definitely a show for those who like it hot. Imagine an ensemble cast with the friction and collective  courage comparing to Lost combined with the gritty urban feel of Law & Order.
Buzz factor: Chicago Fire is the latest effort from renowned Emmy®-winning producer Dick Wolf (Law & Order).
Recommended for fans of: NCIS, NCIS: Los Angeles, NYC 22

 Go On

Scheduled Wednesdays at 9.00 et/pt

"Go On" will air Wednesdays at 9.00 et/pt

The skinny: Go On is a show about being learning to love after experiencing loss. With hilarious moments where you'll laugh so hard you cry and touching moments when you cry until something makes you laugh again, Go On explores a rather cinematic motif of reinvention. Imagine a colourful ensemble cast that likens to Community but with but with heart and allowance for character transformation of family dramas like Parenthood.
Buzz factor: Canadian Matthew Perry returns to primetime for his first major role since since Chandler Bing on the iconic sitcom Friends.
Recommended for fans of: Parenthood, The Simpsons, Glee

The Jeff Probst Show/The Ricki Lake Show

Scheduled Weekday Afternoons at 2.00 et/pt (Jeff Probst) and 3.00 et/pt (Ricki Lake)

The skinny: While Gen-X queen Ricki Lake makes a triumphant return to daytime television, reality guru and longtime Survivor host Jeff Probst will be making his daytime debut. Two veteran hosts with fresh takes on the daytime talk show.
Buzz factor: Huge. The internet is buzzing with viewers who grew up with Ricki Lake, and Jeff Probst on daytime TV gives us our first sense of reality television nostalgia.
Recommended for fans of: Survivor, ET Canada, Parenthood

Note: Don't worry Survivor fans! This fall, Survivor will be returning for a new season set in the Philippines, with a three tribe twist in one of Survivor's toughest locals, Survivor: Philippines is a season designed to test castaways' fight for basic survival.

 Scheduled Tuesdays at 10.00 et/pt

"Vegas" will air Tuesdays at 10.00 et/pt

The skinny: Vegas is a high-concept period drama all about power. Based on the true story of former Las Vegas Sheriff Ralph Lamb, Vegas blazes through a historical period of law and lawlessness on the Vegas strip. Imagine the glittering seduction of Boardwalk Empire with the raw, brassiness of Deadwood.
Buzz factor: Might be the most anticipated show of the upcoming season. Big name actors star, including Canadian Carrie-Anne Moss, and Dennis Quaid.
Recommended for fans of: Awake, Hawaii Five-0, The Good Wife

*New Time* Thursdays at 9.00 et/pt

OnMyWay Glee

The skinny: As much as I'd love to see the nicely choreographed, joyful singing (yet extremely angry) riot Glee not returning would have caused, i'm glad this popular show is returning for a fourth season.
Buzz factor: Fans can't wait to see what Glee's new show-within-a-show format will be like now that many McKinley High students have graduated. Could it be that Glee will take on a more serious approach to it's themes alongside its maturing cast, or will our favourite gleeks keep on truckin' like they always have?
