Maria Kanellis: From the Ring to the Boardroom

As a wrestler in the WWE, Maria Kanellis is a tough chick. But even her experience in the ring with some of WWE's heavyweights couldn't prepare her for the harshness of the Trump boardroom. The non-stop back talk, harsh criticism and wild celebrity personalities weren't exactly what she was expecting. But her tough demeanour and fresh ideas helped her get far in the game.  Even when her teammates used her as a scapegoat when nominating someone to be fired, she still had managed to have fun.

ON WORKING WITH CURTIS FOR THE LAST TASK:

It was awkward for a little while, and then we got over it. We just really wanted to get down to task and help Holly out as much as possible, but it was a bit awkward when we first started. we're working our differences out.

ON HER DECISION TO BE A PART OF THE CELEBRITY APPRENTICE:

Well, the first thing was just doing stuff for charity. I've always liked the Make a Wish Foundation, so to be able to work for them was great. And I did make a bit of money for them, not as much as I would have liked, but I did make a bit of money for them. It was also nice to start showing the real side of me. I'm quirky and weird at times.  Doing the manual labour was so much easier than some of the other stuff, so I was happy for that.

ON WHAT TO EXPECT DURING THE 2-HOUR SEASON FINALE ON SUNDAY:

Oh, gosh. It's like ripping your hair out because  there's so much to do. You're going to see that frustration.

ON THE COMMENTS THAT SHE WAS TOO YOUNG TO KNOW WHAT SHE WAS DOING:

Yeah, there was a bunch of them and there was more when I watched it back. I'm not in the interviews to see exactly what they're saying. I've never been one to get my feelings hurt when anybody says anything, but at the same time, the youths come in with fresh ideas, and the ones that have a few more years on Earth, they bring experience. And I haven't had as much experience on this planet as others had on the team, but that doesn't mean I can't bring great fresh ideas, so it frustrated me in a lot of ways.

ON WHAT SHOCKED HER THE MOST ABOUT THE SHOW:

I really thought that it was going to be like 9 a.m. until 5 o'clock at night; a normal work day. But it was from 4 o'clock in the morning getting hair and makeup done to working until midnight. I have never been so tired in my entire life. We worked six days a week from four in the morning until midnight every day and it was exhausting.

ON BRET MICHAELS:

Coming off of Rock Of Love and all that kind of stuff, I had a completely different opinion of him. But, when I actually got to work with him and be around him, he's a really nice guy. He's a great guy with tremendous ideas and I was thoroughly impressed by him the entire show.

ON HOW TRUMP WILL PICK THE WINNER:

Trump is pretty much a guy that sees whats in a task and that's it. He doesn't see celebrity. He sees what you do on a task and how much of a hard worker you are, and what great ideas you have. That's going to be the only thing Trump looks at.

ON BEING FIRED:

It was a big time letdown. People make comments all the time in the board room, that don't belong in a work environment, but we just like to have fun in there, because that's not our full-time job. We're there. We're working for charity, but it's not our full-time job. Some of the comments I've heard in the past in the boardroom had been 100 times worse than what I said. And I was a bit surprised. It was supposed to be a joke, but it didn't turn out that way. People have a different senses of humor. I was very upset. I was crying. I was mad. A whole slew of emotions.
I think I was an easy target because you can easily say, "Oh, well she's younger than everybody so she doesn't have as much experience." That's an easy way out. But in all honestly, I don't think I was the weakest player at all. I worked hard. I had great ideas. I do have a lot of experience.

The season finale of The Celebrity Apprentice airs Sunday at 9.00 pm
